About

Originally from the East Coast of Maine, Heatherlyn makes her home in the Midwest (Minneapolis, Minnesota USA) with Jason, her husband and music business partner. On and off the road, Heatherlyn regularly contributes music in communities seeking to be peace and compassion in the world. With a diverse national audience, Heatherlyn is recognized as an artist bridging what we hold in common and celebrating our beautiful difference.

Heatherlyn’s sophomore recording project, entitled Storydwelling, is created with diverse roots sounds, including the sonic influences of Reggae, Americana, Rock, Blues and Soul. She is inspired by the life of Martin Luther King Jr. and Mohandas Gandhi and by the music of artists like Bob Marley, Eva Cassidy and Michael Franti and Spearhead. These projects specifically brought inspiration to the creative process of Storydwelling: Robert Plant’s Band of Joy and Mavis Staples You’re Not Alone.

Heatherlyn, is not only an inspiring singer, song-artist and gifted performer, she communicates through spoken word and music, the heart beat of communities and organizations seeking to create a better world. With lyrical themes of social action, considering how we each are conduits of peace and hope in our world, Heatherlyn regularly presents with Youthrive: LIVE (Midwest affiliate of PeaceJam International – Denver, CO USA), for schools, civic groups, faith communities and legislative summits.

She has shared the stage with Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Rigoberta Menchu Tum and President Oscar Arias Sanchez; enviromental activist Will Steger; child safety advocate Patty Wetterling and Peter L. Benson, president and CEP of Search Institute, one of the world’s leading authorities on positive human development.

In the Fall of 2010 and again in 2011, Heatherlyn became a Midwest Regional Finalist and awarded the Midwest “People’s Choice” of NPR’s Mountain Stage/NewSong Performance Contest. This was only accomplished by the support of her devoted fans who have discovered that the music of Heatherlyn is not only delightfully enjoyable artistic expression but, even more, it’s a movement connecting people through their individual story to the greater narrative we all share.

Through writing/blogging and photography, multi-media concert presentations and consistent online presence; Heatherlyn and Jason partner together to share the stories of people they encounter on the road who are being the change they wish to see in the world, through their own unique voice and vocation. Through their work, Heatherlyn and Jason hope to inspire and encourage their audience to live fully alive – authentically, freely sharing their own voice and gifts on behalf of others. They share the hope that these stories will build community, cultivate understanding, compassion and respect among audience members of various walks of life, for all human kind and all creation.
